Actress Helena Bonham Carter is grieving following the devastating news that four of her family members died in a bus crash while on safari in South Africa, reports Britain’s Daily Mail. The four relatives were reportedly traveling between game reserves in a minibus driven by a local guide when the vehicle was thought to have blown a tire and flipped over on Wednesday. They were about six hours from Johannesburg in a remote location. Carter’s aunt, 74-year-old Brenda Bonham Carter, and her husband Francis Kirkwood, 75, were killed along with Marcus Egerton-Warburton, the 14-year-old son of Carter’s cousin, Fiona. Fiona is said to have suffered a broken collarbone in the accident. Her other son, Piers, reportedly suffered whiplash injuries. The fourth victim is believed to be Kay Boardman, the wife of Fiona’s brother Graham. The survivors were taken to Johannesburg General Hospital and treated for their injuries. Lance Bass: How He Helped Christina Applegate Cope
While Christina Applegate was recovering from her double-mastectomy in the hospital, her good friend Lance Bass was of the many friends who stepped up to the plate to show their support, according to People.com. “I was at the hospital holding her hand and getting her through it,” says the former *NSYNC star. “She is a very, very loved person.” The “Samantha Who?” star announced less than a week ago that she had the dramatic surgery, and Lance reports that Christina is doing great and “totally, fully recovering.” Lance also says that the 36-year-old star was able to distract herself after surgery by doing crossword puzzles and crafting hundreds of roses out of lace. “She doesn’t know what she’s going to do with them,” he tells the mag, adding the decision to announce her double-mastectomy on national TV was an easy decision for her. “Now she has a voice and she can use it for something good,” he says. “Just opening her mouth about it is going to make thousands of women go get checked out. Senator Barack Obama has chosen Senator Joseph Biden to be his Vice Presidential running mate. The Democratic candidate broke the news on his Web site overnight, followed by text messages sent to thousands of campaign supporters, who had signed up to receive the news directly.   The text read, “Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on www.BarackObama.com. Spread the word!” On his Web site, Obama says, “Joe Biden brings extensive foreign policy experience, an impressive record of collaborating across party lines, and a direct approach to getting the job done.
